We know it: social networks are capable of the best (we remember in particular the Ice Bucket Challenge which has advanced research against Charcot’s disease) but also of the worst. The proof with this new hashtag that incites harassment…
#Anti2010 is a hashtag born on social networks a little over a year ago: however, it has just gained in popularity since children born in 2010 have (for the most part) just entered 6th grade. On TikTok, “the” social network for the youngest, it has 40 million views.
Insults, threats and even… death calls
Problem: as its name suggests, #Anti2010 calls for the harassment of children born in 2010, who thus suffer insults and mockery. So much so that the Federation of Parents’ Councils (FCPE) sounded the alarm this Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in a statement: “The children of 2010 have become a target: the FCPE asks the government to act urgently!” The FCPE denounces “appeals to hatred“, of the “ultra-violent images“and even”death calls“…
Faced with this surge of hatred (difficult to understand…), the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer spoke on Twitter this Thursday, September 16, 2021 in video for middle school students : “remember when you were in 6th grade yourself. Coming to college was special and you counted on everyone’s kindness. Be kind to yourself. Be vectors of fraternity“.
How do I know if my child is being bullied? At home, the “call for help” of a bullied child (at school or online) can manifest itself through a change in behavior (unusual irritability, unusual isolation, risky behavior: alcohol, tobacco, etc.) or through physical signs (skin problems, return to “wetting the bed”, weight gain or loss, sleep disturbances, stomach aches, loss of appetite, etc.).
