This is what the second-generation Macan, expected for 2023, should look like. The SUV will be based on a new platform and will be offered exclusively with an electric motor. The current model is the one with which Porsche achieves its best sales.
Between the official information and the photos of partially camouflaged prototypes revealed by Porsche, the next Macan is taking shape more and more precisely. The second generation of the SUV will evolve significantly compared to the current model sinceit will be exclusively electric and will be based on the new PPE modular platform co-developed by Porsche and Audi, such as the future Q6 e-tron of the brand with the rings in particular.
The Macan abandons thermal
In addition to its energy source, the second Macan of the name should decide with its predecessor in terms of style. It should take up many of the aesthetic codes introduced with the Taycan. Small front lights with four horizontal lines of LEDs as a light signature are to be expected at the ends of the wings culminating always higher than the hood, in the purest Porsche tradition. The front bumper looks much less perforated than today due to the vehicle’s “zero emission” engine. This second generation will sport a profile similar to a coupe with very sloping rear pillars, which could allow the installation of a mobile spoiler at the stern above a light strip joining the lights. Inside also the Macan It could be inspired by the Taycan. Thus, the layout should remain faithful to what we know in the rest of the range, but the number of physical keys should significantly decrease.

Known architecture, technical sheet to discover
The technical sheet of the next Porsche Macan remains to be known, but we already know that the main engine will be installed at the rear to supply the corresponding axle, that an additional engine could be added at the front to take advantage of a transmission integral and that the battery will be housed under the floor. We can expect the powers offered to peak around 500 hp and the range to reach more than 500 km WLTP.
The Macan is currently Porsche’s best-selling model, accounting for 88,362 of the brand’s 301,915 deliveries in 2021. His successor will therefore have the difficult task of perpetuating this commercial performance. It will be supported during its first years of marketing by maintaining the catalog of the current model.
Porsche expects to achieve 80% of its annual sales with electric vehicles in 2030. The Porsche Macan II should be presented at the end of 2022 before being marketed in 2023.
