They thought they were shots
Exciting moments near Utrecht last night. Just after 9 a.m., the police received a report of a shooting in Nieuwegein. According to The Gelderlander The police came out en masse and blocked off the street. With the support of a police helicopter, the area was combed by the officers in bulletproof vests.
Police turn out for bang exhaust
Local residents came out to see what was going on (is it smart to go outside when you see police in bullet vests?). They told the police that they also heard the explosions, but that they thought it more like fireworks, lightning or loud bangs from an exhaust. Police concluded that the latter must have been the case. The closed street has been reopened. It is not known what type of car made the noise.
