A Healthy Conversation with Professor Marcel Olde Rikkert.
Marcel Olde Rikkert is professor of Geriatrics and head of the RadboudUMC Alzheimer Center in Nijmegen. His specialty is dementia. A heavy subject, for sure. But in this podcast he paints a lighter picture than the one you see so often in the media.
It is now clear from science that lifestyle is an important factor in the prevention of dementia. Living a healthier life and continuing to challenge the brain ensure that the risk of dementia decreases and that the course of the disease is also slowed down. Olde Rikkert argues for customized care in dementia. This is possible through lifestyle advice that is tailored precisely to the individual. But also by deploying effective teams in the neighborhood that ensure that people can deal with the changes in dementia smoothly and resiliently. In this respect, care for dementia will continue to improve in the coming years.
Olde Rikkert believes that old age is a blessing in our society. We must be happy with the elderly, make better use of them in society, and deal with the ailments and illnesses associated with old age as best we can.
All in all, this podcast is quite positive about dementia. It will show you how important it is to take good care of your brain. With a striking role in the conversation for… the hearing aid.
