At the time of to taste should children be deprived of processed wheat products? The report produced by the ecological association Générations Futures provides an additional reason to be wary. The collective publishes the results of a study on daily exposure to pesticides. The findings are overwhelming and reveal that we are confronted daily with pesticides, which are not limited to household products.
The pesticides found would not exceed the maximum authorized limits, but they are cause for concern. Especially since food, supposed to be subject to health surveillance, would also be contaminated by these pesticides. “75% of the samples analyzed contain pesticide residues [contenant] one or more substances […] suspected of being disrupting the endocrine system “, summarizes the document.
The endocrine disruptors are chemicals of natural or artificial origin foreign to the body that interfere with the normal functioning of the body. Although their health effects are not all known, they are suspected of being dangerous for health, in particular for the development of fetuses and children.
Pesticides in cereals
The intensive use of pesticides in agriculture would contaminate the production chain up to the consumer of non-organic cereal products.
Pesticide residues were found in whole wheat BN cookies filled with strawberries, Belvita Breakfast cookies, Chocapic whole grains, Special K 3 whole grains, Carrefour wholemeal bread, Harris sandwich, Spaghetti Panzani pasta , Pasquier croissants, Doowap brioches with chocolate chips.
“It is urgent to act today to reduce public exposure to these endocrine disrupting substances as much as possible,” said François Veillerette, spokesperson for Générations Futures in a press release.
