Here is a way for the less unusual to pass the weapon on the left. A 65-year-old Belgian-Israeli billionaire died in early March of a heart attack during a penis enlargement operation in Paris. The public prosecutor’s office in the capital has opened a judicial investigation and the doctor in charge of the penoplasty was charged with manslaughter.
While Ehud Arye Laniado, a recognized diamond dealer in the profession, was on his way to Saint-Honoré-Ponthieu cosmetic surgery center (8th arrondissement of Paris) for a penoplasty, he became unwell after an injection in his penis. He died of cardio-respiratory arrest shortly after in the operating room.
It is Omega Diamonds, the company of Ehud Arye Laniado which announced to the general public the death of its owner and founder in a press release. “Farewell to a visionary businessman. It is with great sorrow that we confirm that our founder Ehud Arye Laniado has passed away. After living an exceptional life, Ehud will be taken home, to Israel, the land will be the place of his eternal rest. He will be mourned by all,” it read.
One hour before calling for help
The operation having taken place in strange conditions (after the official closing time of the clinic, in particular), the Paris prosecutor’s office decided to open a judicial investigation. The investigation was entrusted to an investigating judge. The latter seized the personal crime repression brigade (BRDP). After the autopsy, the investigators decided to rule out the injection as the immediate cause of death. “There is no link between the sting under the skin of the penis and the cardio-respiratory arrest which led to the death of the client of this center”, explains a source close to the investigation quoted by Point.
The doctor responsible for the operation was however placed under judicial control and indicted for manslaughter, failure to assist a person in danger and illegal exercise of the profession of doctor. Indeed, if she worked for several years at the Saint-Honoré Ponthieu center, she is not regularly registered with the Order of Doctors in France and has diplomas obtained abroad.
In addition, the investigators have doubts about the rescue techniques put in place during the patient’s discomfort: the practitioner took an hour to perform cardiac massage by herself before deciding to call for help. “My client disputes any responsibility in the death of the patient. Not only concerning the care administered but also concerning the management of his discomfort”, declared his lawyer to the Point.
Finally, according to the local police, the manager of the establishment would have come to see before immediately leaving. He later reported to the police station. According to Pointthis survey is also an opportunity to look into the cross-financial interests of the family that manages the center Saint-Honoré-Ponthieu.
What is penoplasty?
Penoplasty or phalloplasty aims to increase the size of the penis, in length or in circumference. Thus, in detail, there are two kinds of operations: enlargement penoplasty, also called lipopenostructure, and lengthening. While the first consists of injecting fat under the skin of the penis, the second is done by releasing the suspensory ligament of the penis which connects it to the pubic bone and is especially effective on the penis at rest. The two interventions can take place separately or at the same time. The glans, on the other hand, cannot be modified by this surgery. For an increase, there are injections of hyaluronic acid.
According to a report produced by The Express on the subject, penoplasty is mainly practiced by men with an “average” penis. In France, the latter is estimated at 13.12 centimeters erect. “In 2016, just over 8,400 men underwent male intimate surgery, including 513 in France”, specifies daily Dr Gilbert Vitale, plastic surgeon president of the French Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeonsrecalling in passing that this intervention does not improve erectile functions or sexual performance.
