After three years of waiting and several unsuccessful ovarian stimulation, Alexia, 37, made an appointment with an osteopath on the advice of a friend. “I was just told I had very bad ovulation. I had nothing more to lose, so I tried osteopathy. Three months later, after five sessions, I was pregnant ”, says the young woman. It’s hard to imagine how external manipulation can promote fertility. However, according to Anthony Metoudi, osteopath this case is not an exception. “For fertilization to be successful and for the egg to implant in the uterine lining, the whole organism must function harmoniously,” explains the osteopath, trained in gynecological disorders. An imbalance of the pelvis or a tension of the uterus can disturb this good functioning. ”
Osteo eliminates internal tensions and blockages
After a long interrogation on the medical and psychological antecedents, the osteopath checks with his hands the mobility of the whole body, of each joint. It ensures that there is no tension at the level of the fascias (connective tissues enveloping the organs, muscles, joints, bones, etc.) and that blood and lymph circulate freely. “I perceive the areas of blockage and tension on which I then work through techniques of palpation and manipulation more or less supported, never painful. ” Sometimes, the practitioner finds old tensions linked to an accident, after effects of abdominal or urinary surgery hindering the proper irrigation of the organs … But fertility does not depend only on the gynecological sphere. We work on the bone structure, including the skull, where endocrine glands (pituitary and hypothalamus) are located, producing hormones essential for fertility.
A few weeks are needed
By his manipulations, the osteopath restores tissue mobility and promotes blood circulation in the organs. The information sent to the body is then processed by the brain. But this will take time: it takes at least three sessions spread over a period of 5 to 6 weeks to give the body time to “reprogram” itself. Gradually, “The woman feels better and the different organs work better, which increases the chances of fertilization”, assures Anthony Metoudi, who, if necessary, works in consultation with the doctor and a psychologist specializing in infertility.
In practice • Not all osteopaths are trained in the management of gynecological disorders. Better to get information first from your doctor, professional organizations * or by word of mouth. |
