For the first time in France, a week is entirely dedicated to memory and these different forms; combining memory in the scientific sense, individual and collective memory, digital memory or even intergenerational memory.
The B2V Group, the Observatoire B2V des Mémoires, the Cyceron Center, the MRSH and Relais D’sciences came together to organize the Semaine de la Mémoire in Caen and in Lower Normandy. This week under the sign of “memory in all its forms” is also supported by La Fête de la Science.
Lower Normandy, a region steeped in memory, welcomes the 1time Edition of the Memory Week
Lower Normandy is a region steeped in history. The Caen Memorial, a reference museum dedicated to history, is representative of collective memory. Denis Peschanski (Member of the Observatoire B2V des Mémoires is the Chairman of the Scientific Council).
This region also hosts major research centers such as the Cyceron Center, whose GIP Director is Prof. Francis Eustache (President of the B2V Observatory of Memories). This platform specializes in medical imaging, whose work focuses on the structure and functioning of memory and the mechanisms that lead to memory diseases.
The B2V Observatory of Memories
The B2V Memorial Observatory is an innovative tool, chaired by the Prof. EUSTACHE and supervised by a college of world-renowned multidisciplinary experts: the Prof. JAFFARD and the Prof. AMIEVA neuroscience specialists, Denis PESCHANSKI – historian, Jean-Gabriel GANASCIA – specialist in artificial intelligence and Bernard STIEGLER – philosopher. It aims to explore all memories: individual memory, collective memory, corporate memory, digital memory, etc.
The B2V Observatory of Memories pursues three major objectives which are an integral part of Remembrance Week :
– Research: experts from the Observatoire B2V des Mémoires will publish a book, entitled “Memory and Forgetting”, with the aim of making the connection between memory and forgetting – 2 notions which seem to be contradictory at the base. The publication is scheduled for October 10.
– The dissemination of knowledge: Memorya, a virtual documentary will be available at the end of the year, will highlight the Mémoire / s Exhibition, which highlights memory in all its forms.
– Prevention: As part of Remembrance Week, the Observatory organizes a Memorial Championship by highlighting the project “A grandparent, a parent, my teacher and me” as part of knowledge sharing and intergenerational links.
