If you stick to your line, it is better to live in Romania than in Malta. According to the survey Eurostat relating to the year 2014, the Mediterranean island holds the European record for obesity (26%), while the Romanian state is the only country below the 10% mark (9.4%). A performance when we know that the European average for obesity is 16%. If we add the 36% of overweight people, we see that more than one out of two Europeans is overweight.
Italy (11%) and the Netherlands (13%) are the “least obese” countries, while Hungary and Latvia weigh much more heavily on the balance (21%). With 15.3%, France is slightly below the average.
From one country to another, we are not all equal in terms of weight, but this is also true within the same population, notes The Echoes. 6% of 18-24 year olds are considered obese, almost four times less than 65-74 year olds (22%).
Same observation according to socio-professional categories. The lower the level of education, the higher the weight. There are almost twice as many obese graduates as overweight workers (11.5% against 20%). This gap is even greater in France (12 points).
On the other hand, the country displays perfect equality between the sexes. This is also the case in most other countries.
