Students will soon be testing one app with which you can check in for all modes of transport. Including shared scooters, so ideal.
The public transport chip card was introduced as the solution to all problems. However, the product is now obsolete. The future is your smartphone. You always have this with you and with an app you can check in at all public transport modes. Students will test this.
One app for all modes of transport
Starting tomorrow, students will test this new travel product. You no longer have to check in with your OV chip card. Just make use of an app, with which you can also rent shared means of transport such as rental scooters. Three hundred students have been selected to participate in the test.
Not only has the way of logging in changed, but also the travel preferences of the students. They are increasingly using alternative means of transport. We all see them speeding past: the shared scooters or shared bicycles. It will soon become easier to use these products. With the Moves app, students will soon be able to travel by tram, train, bus and metro. But also make direct use of shared cars, shared bicycles and shared scooters. With the app you can book and pay for these.
Student travel product
The students use a student travel product. If you’ve ever been a student, you know what this is. You can choose a week or weekend subscription. This allows them to travel for free on public transport.
The first tests are therefore taking place among students. If the trial is successful, it will hopefully be made available to a wider audience. Because it is such a useful app. This means that the use of the public transport chip card is no longer necessary. The idea comes from the start-up Flytz and Moves. Collaboration has also been sought with the municipality of Rotterdam and the cooperation organization Zuid-Holland Ookbaar.
