The new iPad Air is here, but several customers are complaining about the build quality. Read what’s going on here.
A new iPad is an investment after all. And then it is sour if the build quality is not as expected. Several customers have complained about this. The thin panel of the aluminum housing causes audible creaks when held.
Build quality iPad Air
Apple tends to build its products as thin as possible while maintaining structural integrity. This makes the device nice and thin and sleek, but this can cause problems. In early complaints online about the launch of Apple’s latest tablet, it seems that the quest for thinness has caused problems.
In a thread on Reddit first reported by iMore, users claim that there are issues with the way the fifth-generation iPad Air is built. Especially around the back panel. The original poster on the forum says they ordered two blue models. But found that the “aluminium backplate is a lot thinner than on the iPad Air 4.” The user adds the following. “You can almost feel the battery through the plate when you hold the device.” That doesn’t really give a premium feeling, which Apple is so famous for.
crack
Both iPads are apparently the same, with the thin panel causing the tablets to make “cracking noises” when held by the user. The user is not alone in discovering the phenomenon, others are posting in the thread about the same problem. A user offered a video demonstrating the same cracking sounds.
Apple has not responded to the complaints at this time.
