After a violent reaction to mosquito bites, a one-and-a-half-year-old baby had to be hospitalized. His father, Antoine, a resident of Toulouse, confided in the journalists of The Dispatch. The child was first stung in June, in the cheek. “He had a violent reaction because his cheek began to swell disproportionately,” he says daily.
His son is then pricked in the ear, then in the neck. Bites cause infection. His parents take him to the emergency room of the Saint-Jean-Languedoc clinic. He will stay there for a week under observation, with antibiotic treatment. “We were told that he had infectious cellulitis, declared in reaction to mosquito bites. His natural defenses reduced by the treatment, he made lots of pimples”, explains his father, still at the Dispatch.
Call to clean the city’s fountains
For this father, the fountains of the city of Toulouse would be responsible for the proliferation of mosquitoes. He makes numerous calls to the town hall, especially on Twitter, for the basins to be emptied and cleaned. When Antoine talks about what happened to his son, he is determined. “We were very scared and you understand that I will not let go of the town hall, the department or the ARS (regional health agency) because the infection suffered by my son could have been very serious, even fatal”, he adds. .
