It is through its luxury label Maybach that Mercedes announces the imminent arrival of an EQS SUV in 2022. The concept presented at the Munich Motor Show incorporates many elements of the electric limousine, including its technical platform and its high-tech interior.
Maybach is taking advantage of the Munich Motor Show (September 7 to 12) to celebrate its centenary. On this occasion, the luxury label belonging to Daimler presents a 100% electric SUV concept.

The EQS recently proposed by Mercedes will have an SUV counterpart. This future model is revealed to the public for the first time in the guise of a Maybach. If it still bears the concept name, the model presented is however very close to the production version: it incorporates many elements that appeared on the limousine: flush door handles, closed grille echoing the spirit of the brand, fluid curves, dynamic lines. The wheel arches dressed in black accentuate the SUV spirit of the car. Distinctive sign of the Maybach models, the biton Obsidian Black and Zircon Red color separated by a chrome border. Chrome that can be found in many places: air intakes, diffusers, around the side windows…). The tailgate is adorned with the light strip providing visual animation when passengers approach. The set is fitted with 24-inch rims.

The driver’s door opens automatically when the driver approaches. The interior uses the furniture of the S-Class version Maybach with, at the rear, two seats whose calf rests are larger than in the limousine. The dashboard uses the Hyperscreen screen that appeared on the Mercedes EQS with a 141 cm curved panel going from one upright to another. Below are hidden three screens (12.3 ” for the counters, 17.7 ” for infotainment, 12.3 ” in front of the passenger). The latter’s screen goes into standby as soon as the system detects that the driver is distracted.

Maybach still remains discreet on the technical part of this concept of electric SUV. We just know that it is based on the EVA2 modular platform inaugurated on the EQS. It is also in the range of Mercedes that this SUV will be launched in 2022: it will certainly have powers close to those offered by the limousine (from 333 to 524 hp, or even more in a possible AMG version). On the other hand the range will be around 600 km, compared to over 770 km for the classic EQS. This SUV will arrive later in the Maybach range.
