Find out what the future Mercedes CLE Coupé (internal code C236) should look like, expected in summer 2023. This model could replace the E-Class Coupé but also the C-Class Coupé and inaugurate a new name.
“Stolen” photos of camouflaged prototypes recently allowed us to imagine what the next convertible from Mercedes, which will be called CLE, will look like. From there, it was only a short step to get an idea of the look of a CLE Coupé C236. Because even if no test copy of this closed model has yet been seen, his next arrival is more than likely.
A new model at Mercedes
The name CLE which belongs to Mercedes is not used in the current range, this model should have the right to its own visual identity.
This could be inspired by the design of the larger CLS with a relatively low grille, a very openwork front face evoking sportiness, and a “fastback” profile. At the front as at the rear, fine lights should accentuate the dynamism of the whole. The rear seats will probably be more generous than on board the next SL. Under the hood, one can expect to find four-cylinder engines with varying levels of electrification.

Start of production in 2023
From a size point of view and compared to the competition, the Mercedes CLE could be inserted between the BMW Series 4 and Series 8. It can be expected to replace the E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet, models previously named CLK, and according to some rumors it would take over from the two-door C-Class at the same time. This positioning remains to be confirmed, however, which will require a little more patience since the CLE coupé will not enter production until July 2023.
