Peugeot has unleashed its new feline: the 408. A crossover coupe with a unique style that sits between the sedan and the SUV. But the lioness only cut her line. So the Hungarian designer X-Tomi took it into his head to design a three-door version. Here is the result.
New star from the manufacturer to the lion in 2022: the Peugeot 408. The crossover, presented on June 22, sports a unique silhouette halfway between the sedan and the SUV. An atypical style that does not fail to make people talk! But the Hungarian designer X-Tomi wanted to go even further by imagining a coupé version of the lioness.
The coupé… of a coupé?
With a receding roof line called “ fastback”, the Peugeot 408 belongs to the large family of crossover coupes like the BMW X6 (minus the dimensions!). By designing a three-door version of the Lion sedan, X-Tomi has therefore created the coupe of a coupe. A three-door body that now appears very original in an automotive landscape where only SUVs have the grace of buyers… Long gone are the days of the RCZ and 407 Coupé!
The X-Tomi 408 Coupé retains all the rugged attributes of the original model, such as the marked wheel arches. However, the hull has been considerably lowered. The wheels, which can climb up to 20 inches, fill their housing well. Moreover, the Hungarian designer obviously did not find the asymmetrical design of the rims to his liking and replaced them with a more conventional model. But it is obviously at the level of the profile that everything is played. The front doors have been lengthened. The rear pillar disappears to form a single large quarter panel. If it stretched almost to the end of the tailgate on the real 408, that of the imaginary coupe stops above the rear wheel arch, in the middle. If this three-door coupe has no chance of seeing the light of day, admit that these bestial lines would still look good on our roads!
