Love makes you fat. This is the conclusion of German researchers from the University of Basel and the Max Plank Institute in cooperation with the market research institute GfK. There is a link between life as a couple and weight. A study carried out on 10,226 people in many European countries (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom) showed that people in a romantic relationship would weigh an average of two kilos of more than singles.
In this study, BMI (body mass index) average for single men is 25.7 compared to 26.3 for married men. As for women, single people have an average BMI of 25.1 compared to 25.6 for married women. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a BMI between 18.5 and 25 corresponds to a weight considered normal, between 25 and 30, it indicates overweight and beyond 30, indicates obesity.

Different habits responsible for this weight difference
To explain this weight difference, several tracks. The organization of meals is not the same depending on whether you are alone or in pairs. As a couple, it is sometimes difficult to resist a good dinner prepared by your spouse. In a relationship, it is often the one who pays the most attention to his diet who is influenced by the other.
The study also shows that single people exercise more than couples. When celibacy is often synonymous with the quest for encounters and the desire to please, the couple and the fulfillment of married life often lead to relaxation.
But the lovers are not losers on the whole line (only theirs). Studies show that people in a relationship, despite being heavier, have a better longevity.
