Lotus announces three new electric models. They will precede the sportswoman whose platform Alpine will share. These are two SUVs and a four-door coupe, which will be produced in China. The little radical car maker will soon be a memory.
When Lotus announced its intention to become a 100% electric brand by 2030, it also revealed that its lineup will soon no longer be limited to pure, hard sports cars. The British manufacturer is saying a little more today, detailing the four “zero emission exhaust” vehicles that will follow the Evija hypercar, the first of its kind at Lotus. Three of the cars in question will be based on the same modular architecture that can accommodate batteries from 92 to 120 kWh and have a wheelbase of between 2.89 m and 3.10 m. The Chinese group Geely, which has controlled the Hethel firm since 2017, intends to make it a high-end brand with a sporting tendency aimed at a wealthy but large clientele throughout the world. At the end of 2021, Lotus will inaugurate a factory in China, in Wuhan, intended to produce these vehicles with an unprecedented orientation.

An SUV, then a sedan
After years of rumors and other clues, Lotus confirms that it is preparing a first SUV. Called Type 132 internally, this imposing vehicle intended for the E segment will be presented from 2022. On an image published as a teaser, there are thin front lights stretching out to the sides and retro-cameras. We can guess a relatively aggressive look.
In 2023, Lotus will continue its offensive with the Type 133, a large “4-door coupe” from the E segment. The retro-cameras will also be there, but the front light signature will be made up of two superimposed lines of LEDs. This difference in “look” should aesthetically distinguish the versatile vehicles from the sporty models at Lotus in the future.

A second SUV from 2025
In 2025, a more compact SUV with the code name Type 134 will enter the D segment, with the future electric Porsche Macan in its sights. The official illustration shows hollowed out flanks reminiscent of Evija and Emira.
The fourth model which is announced today in images had already been mentioned since it will be the Type 135 electric sports car, whose platform will be taken over by the future replacement of the Alpine A110. No new information has been revealed about it, other than that it will launch in 2026 and not in 2025 as initially promised.
A new division of Lotus in China
In addition to its range, Lotus will develop its activities and found a new division called Lotus Technology, also located in Wuhan. Li Bin, founder of Chinese electric car maker Nio, is among the investors. The two companies plan to collaborate. The construction of the Lotus Technology headquarters has just started. The premises are to be inaugurated in 2024.
