Amazon’s Lord of the Rings is coming. A launch date has now been announced, but there’s also an exciting first look at the series!
The Lord of the Rings films were a huge success. The atmosphere, the beautifully made images and the story made that many people found their way to the cinema. This meant a lot of profit for the makers. Amazon saw that too and is now making a series.
Lord of the Rings series on Amazon
The series is already in 2017 announced. Shooting started in February 2020 and is now so far advanced that the makers can announce a launch date. The series comes on September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime.
The premiere date reveal was accompanied by a first look at a still image of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings. Here we see a lone figure that appears to be standing outside Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor. In the background of the image on the right, two white trees grow high against the horizon.
Details
Not much has become known about the series in recent years. Little has been leaked since the streaming service announced its intention to bring audiences back to Middle Earth. There is sporadic casting news suggesting the show will have many characters. And a cryptic March 2019 tweet left fans baffled by showing a map of Middle Earth with the lost continent of Númenor in one corner. That continent was the Atlantis-like home of the Dúnedain, a beloved race of men who fell into darkness thousands of years before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring.
When the long-awaited series is online, new episodes will appear weekly. So you can’t binge watch it directly.
