What Bill Buzyn contains, processed foods would increase the risk of death and 9 out of 10 children with sleep apnea go undiagnosed. Recap of the day’s news.
What does the Buzyn health bill contain?
“Promote access to care everywhere in France”: this is the objective of Agnès Buzyn’s health bill, presented this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers. Integrated into the “My health 2022” plan, this project brings together a series of measures to comprehensively reform the French health system and concerns both the training of doctors, thea disappearance of the numerus clausus,a creation of “nearby hospitals” labels, telemedicine, data sharing and recognition of foreign doctors. We explain all this in detail in our article.
The impact of processed foods on our life expectancy
Chocolate bars, ready meals and other processed foods are not good for your health. Worse, they would be associated with a higher risk of mortality. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), by French researchers, suggests that a 10% increase in the share of ultra-processed foods in the diet is correlated with a 15% higher mortality. Ultra-processed products are defined as those which have undergone several industrial modifications, and are the result of the assembly of several products. They are often high in salt or sugar. Sleep apnea in children
Children with sleep apnea are severely underdiagnosed, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association. Symptoms are often mistakenly attributed to behavioral problems. Experts have established that about 15% of children suffer from sleep apnea, and 90% of them go undiagnosed. “Once sleep apnea has been identified, treatment is usually very effective. The challenge here is to identify it early enough,” said John White, one of the study’s authors and specialist in sleep disorders. Read our article by clicking here.
