Fortunately, the big tuning fair will continue this year
Compared to the past, the use of color in racing is now somewhat obedient. Certainly in the nineties it could not be colorful enough. For example, in 1996 a Honda Accord won the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) in the colors you see above. This is not that car, because that was a sedan, but a tribute to Honda Performance Development (HPD), wheel manufacturer Fifteen52 and tuner Mountune. They show the revived station wagon during the SEMA fair in Las Vegas, which fortunately will take place again this year.
In America you can now order the K20C1 engine, the four-cylinder from the Civic Type R, separately. Honda wanted to put the engine in the spotlight and so mounted the modern four-cylinder in the old Accord. It all looks very sleek under the hood. The turbo engine produces 310 hp and 400 Nm according to American specifications. Enough to have a lot of fun. Due to the stripped interior, the car will also weigh less than before.
The ‘JTCC’ Honda Accord is mounted on Fifteen52 Super Touring rims and the whole is a bit lower thanks to a set of adjustable Tein dampers. Naturally, a full roll cage was baked into the car and Type R brakes were fitted to force things to a stop. The fact that it’s a station wagon makes it all ten times cooler.
