We all know a smartwatch, but a smart ring… The ring exists, read here what you can do with it.
The smart ring is not new. Four years ago it was already by Oura launched. In the meantime, the company has not been idle and has made it to the media a number of times. Oura rings have been found on the fingers of a number of famous figures, and a number of studies have used them to determine whether wearable technology could predict COVID-19 symptoms.
Oura . smart ring
The Finnish company is now announcing its third-generation ring with an even greater emphasis on cramming as much hardware into that tiny device as the laws of physics allow.
The v3 Oura Ring doesn’t look much different compared to its predecessor. Inside, however, the company has developed several new components to fit into the chassis. Including a new optical heart rate sensor. This alone allows the wearable to track your heart rate throughout the day. This was previously only possible at night. In addition, with the smart ring you also get heart rate measurement during workouts and you even get blood oxygenation measurements.
Applications
With the new improved continuous temperature monitoring, the makers of Oura believe the new model will be much better at predicting when periods will begin. The company added that you can expect more accurate sleep tracking. You will also receive data on how relaxed and rested you are so that you can take some time off.
All this does not come for free. The revenue model for many wearables is in the form of a subscription. Again, for about $6 a month, you can get “daily health insights, personalized recommendations, exclusive audio, educational videos, and more.” Of course you have to buy the ring first.
