September 8, 2004 – From September 22 to 24, the first meeting outside Europe of the European Society of Social Paediatrics will be held in Montreal. The colloquium aims to bring together planners, researchers, decision-makers, trainers and interveners who deal with young children on a daily basis, in order to take stock of new knowledge and prevention practices that can improve their lot.
In addition to allowing participants to take part in workshops, this annual meeting will be an opportunity to hear four renowned speakers:
– James J. Heckman, Nobel laureate in economics and professor at the University of Chicago;
– Michael kramer, professor of pediatrics at M UniversityvsGill and director of the Canadian Institute of Child and Youth Development and Health;
– Fraser mustard, former rector of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of MvsMaster and founding president of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research;
– Joseph sparling, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of North Carolina.
It should be noted that it is the Quebec social pediatrician Gilles Julien who chairs this international conference. The event’s scientific committee is chaired by Richard Tremblay, who also heads the Center of Excellence for Early Childhood Development.
