According to a recent London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine study of more than 2,400 UK couples aged 18 to 30, most men wash their pajamas every 13 days, while women wait until at 17 days to put their nightie in the machine … So chocking!
Infections and cystitis
Problem: our pajamas, whether in silk, velvet or pilou-pilou, are a real breeding ground for bacteria. “Staphylococcus aureus can cause infections if it comes in contact with a sore. And the E. Coli bacteria can cause cystitis if it reaches the urinary tract, ”says Professor Sally Bloomfield, lead author of the study.
What are the main excuses to justify this lack of hygiene? 54% of women simply say they have so many different pajamas that they “forget” to wash them regularly. 41% are more pragmatic: as long as it doesn’t smell bad, it’s portable!
