Some tips
Whether you are at the station, at the petrol pump, at the market or in the supermarket: you will be tempted with food everywhere. We have listed a number of tips for you to deal with it.
Want to buy food on the go? Nowadays, a variety of fruits and vegetables are hidden on the shelves. Carrots, bananas, snack tomatoes; that’s how you get your two ounces of vegetables and two pieces of fruit a day.
Many packages are labeled as ‘normal’ or ‘medium’, when it is actually a hefty amount. Before ordering, ask if you can take a look at the trays or cups and see if smaller packaging is not enough. This way you don’t eat too much and you throw away less.
You don’t always consciously choose to eat something. Perhaps you are used to always eating a croquette at the market or a hot dog or ice cream at the store. Recognize these situations and provide an alternative plan. Bring an apple or plan for such moments an ice cream cone to eat.
Do you recognize this? You walk down the street, sit in the car or train and in the meantime you are snacking. Before you know it, it’s gone, but you’ve barely tasted it. Prevent this by only eating if you can focus your attention on it.
In the supermarket, for example, children can make a big fuss because they see something delicious. Let your child notice that it is not your environment that determines when you eat something. Distract your child (and yourself!) with a chat or by actively changing your mind: Come on, let’s go the tea Search!
