More than one in two French people take homeopathic granules for treatment and health insurance reimburses them at 30%. A situation to which the Minister of Health, Agnès Buzyn, plans to return. “We decided to reimburse homeopathy without any scientific evaluation. Perhaps it could enter common law and be evaluated. If it is useful, it will remain reimbursed. If it is useless, it will stop being so”she said on France Inter.
Last March, doctors published a column cagainst alternative medicine and especially against homeopathy. In their forum, they notably asked the public authorities to “no longer reimburse by social security contributions care, drugs or treatments from disciplines refusing their rigorous scientific evaluation”.
But at the time, the Minister of Health reacted by indicating that the delisting of homeopathic medicines was not on the agenda.
