Will we soon pay 25 years at the general practitioner? This is what health insurance offers, after months of demands from doctors’ unions. The increase of two euros (the current consultation costs 23 euros) “is not final“, entrusted the Health Insurance to AFP, and will have to be balanced with other measures. Indeed, this revaluation is part of a larger medical convention which must develop a financial plan for the different types of consultation. Thus, an increase of two euros will not be compatible with the establishment of a “significantly increased rate for long and complex consultations” that the doctors ask in addition to the revaluation of the basic consultation. According to the various tracks, this revaluation of two euros would cost Health Insurance between 570 and 737 million euros, according to a document obtained by AFP.
Unions for a price varying from 25 to 45 euros
This measure comes after months of disputes between doctors and the government related to the Health law, finally adopted at the end of 2015. In December 2015, the Federation of Doctors of France (FMF), the French Federation of General Practitioners (MG France) and the National Union of General Practitioners (Unof), claimed a “tariff movement” in 2016 to set the price of consultations at a price fluctuating between 25 and 45 eurosdepending on the groups. The price of 23 euros has not been increased since 2011.
