For the health and beauty of the scalp and lengths, nothing beats an oil application! Many of them have interesting properties for nourishing, sheathing, detangling and making the hair shine. They may be associated (or not) with essential oils if you want to create a more effective and “treating” mixture. If you face two problems, with for example an oily scalp and rather dry lengths, use two oils, chosen according to their virtues. You can also decide to treat a problem one day (the scalp), and another (lengths and ends) the next day… Before proceeding with your DIY treatment adapted to your hair problem, you adopt the right reflexes.
Hair bath: a 6-step routine
- We apply the vegetable oil or the mixture of oils in small quantity all over the scalp.
- Then we stretch it on the lengths and to the ends. Ideally, proceed strand by strand, smoothing the product and making it penetrate well into the fiber.
- Then, you tie your hair, tie a hot towel (or put on a plastic charlotte) around your head to maintain the heat and promote the penetration of the oils.
- A 30-minute break is enough if you’re in a hurry, but one o’clock will be more efficient. Very dry or frizzy hair can even leave the hair bath on overnight, making sure to protect their pillow.
- Rinse with a mild, natural shampoo: twice if you have oily hair, once on dry hair, which will leave a light protective film on the lengths.
- It is advisable to make an oil bath once a week if the hair is dry to very dry.
- For oily hair, the frequency can be reduced, once every 15 days for example.
