Some of these sprinkles are not edible at all. Those found in DIY stores or intended for cosmetics should not be ingested. Composed of plastic that the body cannot digest, which could lead to stomach aches and constipation.
The flakes used in baking, especially for decorating cakes, are a less risky alternative. These edible flakes nevertheless contain many dyes, again not recommended such as the well-known E 171. It is present, for example, in candies, cakes and toothpaste and is believed to have potentially carcinogenic effects. It is therefore advisable to carefully check the list of ingredients, the recommendations on the sachets of straw and limit its consumption.
