the generalized third-party payment, one of the flagship measures of the Health Law by Marisol Touraine, who foresaw, by the end of 2017, a waiver of full advance fees for medical consultations has just been partially retested by the Constitutional Council. The wise considered in fact that the measure was not sufficiently framed. Thus, the mutual part will remain the responsibility of the patient.
This decision does not change anything for the 15 million patients covered 100% by Social Security (pregnant women, people with long-term illness …) and who will have nothing more to pay as of next December 31. . But for the others, “this means that the third-party payment cannot be compulsory on the whole of the medical part” said Jean-Paul Ortiz, President of the Confederation of French Medical Unions (CSMF) on France 3. The mutual part remaining the responsibility of the patient, “This means that with a general practitioner sector 1, on a consultation at 23 euros, the patient will pay 6.90 euros.”
The decision of the Constitutional Court is not necessarily final. If the government wants to pass the measure as announced, it will have to represent it before the assembly.
