Anyone who thinks that book format ePub is something mysterious, like the unreadable mush of an exe file, is wrong. The format is based on XML and HTML and can therefore be edited excellently. You can use the free Sigil for that purpose. Sigil is a very complete program that allows you to control every aspect of a publication. This means that on the one hand you can create books from scratch and format them to your heart’s content, but on the other hand you can also modify existing ePub files. For example, you can easily correct scanned books and change fonts.
