About ten years ago there were people who thought that Second Life would become some kind of new internet standard, and there were even Dutch municipalities that opened a virtual town hall on the platform. It turned out to be mainly a hype and the number of users stagnated. Yet there are still a lot of people active on the platform, and an alternative has even been created called OpenSim. Firestorm Viewer is a kind of browser that allows you to visit the virtual worlds of both Second Life and OpenSim, and there are quite a few of them. Well worth a look.
