Decrease in number of diagnoses and incidence rate
While the number of positive Covid cases will soon reach two million, France is experiencing, for the first time since the second wave, a drop in the number of new diagnoses and a decrease in the incidence rate. According to data from Public Health France, this Sunday, November 15, the number of entries into the intensive care unit or intensive care unit was even at the lowest for the last three weeks with 270 entries in 24 hours.
Two weeks after the new restrictions and the entry into force of the re-containment, there is thus a slight improvement in the health situation. An observation that Olivier Véran wished to comment on during an interview given to the newspapers of the Ebra group: ” Thanks to confinement, as in March, the virus begins to circulate less. For ten consecutive days, the number of new Covid-19 diagnoses has been decreasing, the test positivity rate and the incidence rate have been falling. Everything therefore suggests that we have passed an epidemic peak. […] We are regaining control over the epidemic and that’s good news “.
“It is too early to relax our efforts”
If the figures are down, Olivier Véran reminded that “ we haven’t beaten the virus yet “. The Minister of Health would like to warn the French: ” Clearly, it is too early to claim victory and relax our efforts “. He also recalled that the government would give more visibility to the French at the end of November on the subject of the end of year celebrations.
Finally, with regard to potential future vaccines, Olivier Véran reiterated that the authorities make it a point of honor to guarantee the safety of the population. Therefore, he said: “ If we have more than one vaccine, we will choose the ones that we think are the safest and most effective “. According to him, three or four pharmaceutical companies could apply for a marketing authorization by the beginning of 2021.
