An ode to the first prototypes
Of the five prototypes Ford built of the GT in the 1960s, only three remain. Two were killed in crash tests. And only one still wears its black and white livery. You can see this copy in the photos. To honor him, here’s the Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition. The special GT is technically the same as all other examples, but it will be produced in an even more limited edition and only selected customers are eligible.
Ford previously introduced the ’66 Heritage Edition (27 pieces) that honored the car of Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, the ’67 Heritage Edition that honored the winning 1967 GT40 (39 pieces) and twice a Gulf version, both of which 50 units were built. Then there is a Daytona Heritage Edition, one of which came to the Netherlands. It is unknown how many of these will be built.
Also blue elements
The paintwork of the Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition is called Wimbledon White and the elements are Antimatter Blue. The carbon fiber wheels are finished with a blue tint. The interior continues the theme with Alcantara in Lightspeed Blue and enough (black) carbon fiber elements. The 3.5-liter V6 in the Ford GT also produces 669 horsepower here. The price has not been made public.
