In a study published on the website of British Medical Journal, conducted by Inserm, researchers reveal that cardiovascular health has a major influence on brain health. Having a healthy lifestyle could even considerably limit the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
Currently, 50 million people are affected by this type of dementia. And the forecasts for the future are not good, by 2030 this figure could have tripled. What if a healthier lifestyle helped keep your brain healthy?
7 rules of life to follow
This is what this study published on August 8 shows. According to researchers, adhering to Life’s Simple 7 would help preserve your brain. These 7 principles of life are as follows: controlling blood pressure, limiting cholesterol, reducing sugar consumption, staying active (150 minutes of moderate activity per week or 75 minutes of sustained activity), eating a balanced diet, losing weight and stop smoking. Seven rules which, when respected, allow to keep a healthy body, as well as a healthy brain.
Conducted on 10,308 people, the study revealed that the lower the cardiovascular health, the higher the risk of developing dementia, mainly around the age of 50.
