Focus Sessions in Windows 11 keep you on track

Do you get easily distracted or do you often get into problems with work and studies due to procrastination? Then Focus Sessions, a new component within Windows 11 may be of interest to you. Microsoft shares the first images of it.

You will soon start Focus sessions from the renewed Clock app of Windows 11. The intention is that you choose a task and complete it within the time. For this there is a link with Microsoft’s productivity app To Do. You decide how long it takes you. You also choose whether you want to take short breaks in between.

You don’t have to keep an eye on the clock every time, because music plays during the session until the job is done. Spotify is built in for this. The new feature has similarities with the Concentration Assistant options that you can already find in Windows 10, but they only relate to silencing annoying notifications from time to time.

Motivation Wanted

To motivate you, you can also set goals. For example, if you want to work on an assignment for at least two hours on a certain day, you can see exactly how much time has passed and how much you still have to go. It also shows how long you spent on focus sessions the previous day and how many tasks you completed in a row, referred to as a ‘streak’.

Windows 11 will be released later this year, initially only on computers that you buy new in the store. Next year you can expect the new Windows as an update for your Windows 10 system, as long as it meets the Windows 11 system requirements.
