The whole of France has been affected by the type B virus of flu. 757,000 people have seen a doctor for flu-like symptoms in the past four weeks, according to figures from the National Institute for Public Health Surveillance. If the body has not noted any particular signs of seriousness at this stage of the epidemic, the peak is expected in the next 2 weeks.
The virus was virulent in Rhône Alpes
The region most affected by the virus is the Rhône-Alpes, with 770 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Languedoc-Roussillon follows with 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and Ile-de-France with 446 cases.
Protect yourself against the flu
Faced with viruses, such as colds and the flu, antibiotics are of no use.
To avoid catching the flu, wash your hands regularly, before eating, or after taking public transport.
To avoid infecting your loved ones, it is also recommended to sneeze into a tissue, which you will then throw in the trash.
If you have not been able to avoid contamination, it is advisable to stay well covered in your bed and to hydrate yourself. To lower the fever if it exceeds 38.5 ° C, take 1 to 2 tablets of paracetamol at 500 mg per dose, to be renewed if necessary after 4 hours minimum, without exceeding 3 g per day.
To shorten the symptoms, a doctor may prescribe an antiviral (Relenza, Tamiflu) which must be taken within 48 hours of the onset of the first symptoms.
