Eating raw foods made with flour can make you sick, according to a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study confirms that a type of Escherichia coli bacteria found in minced steaks Where leafy vegetables can also proliferate in dry foods and especially flour.
Never eat raw cookie dough
At the start of the study, the researchers found it surprising that a dry, powdery substance, which can sit on a shelf for months, could contain a living microorganism that does not spoil the product but can still make someone sick.
Facing a large number of poisonings due to tasting raw cookie dough, they initially thought the culprits were the chocolate chips. But eventually discovered that it’s in the flour that the bacteria were proliferating. They therefore advise never to eat raw cookie dough or any other raw pastry mixes that are meant to be baked.
