A few months after the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft is delivering on an important promise. But that is not yet the case for everyone.
As of now there is a major Windows 11 update available, which Microsoft announced in January. The update includes the Amazon AppStore, giving Windows users access to a wide range of Android applications. Initially, more than a thousand applications are available.

The selection is therefore not as extensive as in the Google Play Store, the official download store for Android. But the update does bring better harmony between Windows and Android. There is a significant caveat to this release, since the Amazon AppStore is only available to American users. In addition, it is a public preview. So here in the Netherlands we have to do without Android support on Windows 11 for the time being.

Fortunately, the first major Windows 11 update offers more than that. For example, the system’s toolbar lets Microsoft Teams users mute conversations. Also, they can easily share their current screen with another. The weather widget shows live information and the date and clock are now also on the second screen that you linked to your computer (that was not the case before).
In addition, the free music player has been given a new look that puts more emphasis on a full music library, while the Notepad gets a revamped interface, including support for dark mode.
