According to a Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin (BEH) published in 2019 by Public Health France, 3.8% of French people vape daily. If the electronic cigarette has been recommended by some doctors as a solution to say “goodbye” to tobacco, vaping is far from being good for your health…
Thus, several serious scientific studies have shown that regular vapers have an increased risk of developing a mouth infection, myocardial infarction or even pneumonia. For the World Health Organization (WHO), electronic cigarettes are “unquestionably harmful”.
Like smokers, vapers suffer from “mental fog”
And according to a recent study by the University of Rochester (in the United States), electronic cigarettes could also alter mental faculties. The researchers studied medical data concerning 18,000 students and 886,000 adults: the latter answered an online questionnaire concerning their tobacco habits (electronic cigarettes, cigarettes, etc.) and their cognitive functions (memory , attention, focus, etc.).
Results ? Scientists (who have published their work in specialized journals Tobacco Induced Diseases and Plos One) found that adults who smoke and/or vape on a regular basis are more likely than others to develop cognitive impairment – memory loss, difficulty concentrating, difficulty making decisions… The researchers talk about ” mental fog”.
Scientists add that children who start vaping very early (around the age of 13) have an even higher risk of developing “mental fog” in adulthood. Thus, experts from the University of Rochester claim that “vaping should not be considered a healthy alternative to smoking“.
