Eating with pleasure is an anniversary publication of the Hans Mak Institute. An institute that was founded by, among others, the Kidney Foundation and the Dutch Kidney Patients Association. With this, the institute celebrates that the first special cookbook for kidney patients was published 30 years ago. An anniversary edition promises special content. Food is happy to fulfill this expectation. It is informative, complete and attractive!
The book starts with a clear explanation of nutrients that cause problems for kidney patients. The authors provide concise answers to ‘frequently asked questions’. They provide various guidelines. And there are many (foreign) recipes in the cookbook. Soups, sauces, savory snacks, complete meals. Luxurious dishes alternate with simple ones. In the analysis table at the back, the reader can see how much protein, sodium, potassium and phosphate the foods used contain.
Eating with pleasure is a cookbook that stimulates the desire to cook. Beautiful photography and clear descriptions. And what is perhaps most striking: from the delicious recipes you do not read that kidney patients follow a diet. The healthy reader will probably also want to try all the goodies that pass by in Eating with pleasure!
