From fact to fiction, the Ebola virus remains a threat that physicians must combat and eradicate. The film E-bola, directed by Christian Marazziti, is inspired by the epidemic that West Africa has been experiencing since December 2013, and the story of Dr. Fabrizio Pulvirenti, an Italian emergency doctor who was infected with the virus Ebola in Sierra Leone.
His testimony served as support for the writing of the screenplay. In the background, the feature film follows a team of six researchers from all over the world to try to develop a hemorrhagic fever treatment.
Ebola: doctors and public too little informed
The reason for this film? The observation of a cruel lack of information, from the general public as well as from doctors… The producer of E-bola, Massimo Tortorella, is CEO of Consulcesi, a group which offers distance training to Italian doctors. The man has a habit of offering training videos.
On screen, the scientists are actors, but the script and the dialogues were developed with the participation of big names in Italian infectiology. The Consulcesi group appealed to the Lazzaro Spallanzani Institute of Infectious Diseases, but also to the Air Force Health Service.

Result: the action of the film is regularly interspersed with factual presentations on key points to remember about the virus and the disease.
