DuckDuckGo officially releases its browser with a focus on privacy for Mac. It is still a beta that you have to sign up for.
the browser works just like on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The default search engine comes from DuckDuckGo, web trackers are automatically blocked and with a simple push of a button you can delete your internet history.
In addition, DuckDuckGo helps with those annoying cookie notifications. In half of the cases, the browser selects the most privacy-friendly options for users, so you no longer have to do this manually.
DuckDuckGo also provides an overview
The browser also presents an overview of trackers within a privacy feed. This is comparable to the overview offered by Apple’s Safari, for example. However, within the DuckDuckGo browser you can view which trackers are active per website and you are able to delete the data when you deem it necessary.
Also, DuckDuckGo does not load trackers in embedded content. Instead, you will receive a notification that trackers are active, after which you can indicate whether you agree or not.
The browser also offers a password manager (which is also coming to the mobile app), as well as the option to transfer personal data from other browsers. This data is then stored locally – and not on servers.
Finally, there is the Smart Encryption tool, which ensures that you visit sites more often with the secure https connection. It is not yet known when the browser will also come to Windows.
