Expected for the end of 2022, the restyling of the DS 3 Crossback should clearly change the visual personality of the small premium French SUV. A less “friendly” look will appeal to new customers before the arrival of an exclusively electric second generation.
In 2018, DS chose to bet on an urban SUV to replace the city car DS 3. But sales of the small DS 3 Crossback did not meet the brand’s expectations. This entry-level model fails to do better than the more expensive DS 7 Crossback, a year its senior. In order to correct the situation, the French premium subsidiary of the Stellantis group is preparing a restyling which, for once, should be seen.
The DS 4 as an inspiration
Taking up the stylistic language inaugurated by the new DS 4, the DS 3 Crossback “phase 2” should abandon a good part of the curves of the current model in favor of a more aggressive look. We can expect a more assertive “look” through an angular design of the front lights. The DS Wings grille clipping could disappear. New billhooked daytime running lights and redesigned shields with protruding edges should complete the transformation. The evolutions promise to be more discreet at the rear. In the passenger compartment, an enlarged central screen could constitute the main novelty above a console redesigned to echo the design of the new optical units. New color options, rims and interior finishes will probably enrich the catalog. In addition, the DS 3 Crossback should be full of state-of-the-art driving aids.

The electric future of the DS 3 Crossback
The restyling of the DS 3 Crossback should give the model a new boost for the second half of its commercial cycle. DS could put even more emphasis on its electric variant E-Tense in its communication. Because it is on the success aimed for this one that will have to surf the second generation of the urban SUV, expected for the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. All the new DS marketed from 2024 will be “zero exhaust emissions”, and the second DS 3 Crossback of the name, which will be based on a new platform, will therefore be devoid of any heat engine. The competition will be much tougher when it arrives than it is today, and it will be crucial for DS to have positioned itself as a credible premium alternative to future small electric SUVs with the Smart or Mini logo in particular.
