Some pain should not be taken lightly. And for good reason, a 55-year-old Indian woman, who complained of having difficulty walking and breathing, recently discovered, after an operation, that she had a 23 centimeter tumor in her ovary.
- A tumor is a more or less voluminous growth caused by an excessive multiplication of cells. It can be benign (normal cells) or malignant (abnormal cells).
An incredible but true story. Last August, a woman residing in the city of Jhunjhunu, India, visited Bhagwan Mahaveer Hospital for the first time because she had been suffering from chronic pain for three years. Because of these ailments, she could no longer move and breathe properly.
According to the British daily Mirror, the doctors of the establishment made him do a battery of examinations. They advised the 50-year-old to have surgery. The Indian was not ready for surgery at that time. Health professionals only operated on him on December 8th.
Four hours after a difficult operation, they discovered the origin of these pains: the surgeons removed a tumor 23 centimeters long and weighing more than 3 kg. This lump was located in the patient’s ovary.
“That tumor was so big”
“Due to the size and weight of the tumour, there were several challenges during the operation, although the biggest challenge was preventing the tumor from rupturing. The operation was a great success thanks to the skills of the anesthetist and the nursing staff present in the team”, said oncologist Dr. Prashant Sharma. He added that the patient was now in perfect health and was able to walk properly.
“It was very shocking to us. Usually a tumor is two to eight centimeters, but this tumor in the ovary was so big that it had started growing inside the stomach.”he said.
