An ad that goes badly with dentists. While they had taken to the streets to protest against the reform of dental care tariffs, Marisol Touraine, Minister of Health announced Thursday March 9 that the government had validated the new fee schedule. It will come into force from 2018. The main unions in the profession, CNSD and FSDL have declared that they are furious with this decision.
The Ministry of Health explained in a press release that the price of prostheses would be capped gradually while it is free today and can go up to 1000 euros. In 2018, the installation of a ceramic-metallic crown, for example, cannot exceed 550 euros. This maximum tariff will increase to 510 euros in 2020. The basis for reimbursement of crowns will increase from 107.5 euros to 120 euros in 2019.
Revalued conservative care
For beneficiaries of complementary universal health coverage (CMU-C), the ceilings will be increased. For the metal crown, it will go from 230 to 250 euros. Full coverage will be extended to other treatments.
Another measure is the creation of follow-up oral examinations for young people aged 21 to 24, 100% covered.
Conservative and preventive care, such as the treatment of cavities or scaling, will be revalued. A dental surgeon will earn 67 euros in 2018 for the restoration of a tooth on a type of cavity. In 2017, he earned 41 euros.
The Ministry of Health says a dental surgeon should earn an average of 7,600 euros in additional fees by 2021.
