Faced with the risk of shortages in the midst of the epidemic, the luxury group LVMH has announced that it is producing and distributing hydroalcoholic gel free of charge to offer them to the health authorities.
- Demand is exploding for hydroalcoholic gels and there is a risk of shortage
- The LVMH group announces that it will have these gels manufactured in its cosmetics factories
- These products will be provided free of charge to the health authorities
Faced with the major health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, efforts are focused on mutual aid and solidarity. In this sense, the luxury group LVMH has announced that it will direct its production towards the mass production of hydroalcoholic gel in order to distribute it free of charge to health authorities. The announcement took place this Sunday, March 15.
Mobilization of large groups
This production “in large quantities” offers a guarantee against the risk of a shortage of hydroalcoholic gel. “LVMH will (…) make use of all the production units of its perfume and cosmetic brands (Christian Dior perfumes, Guerlain and Givenchy perfumes) in France to manufacture hydroalcoholic gels in large quantities from Mondaythe group said in a statement. These gels will be delivered free of charge to the French health authorities, as a priority, from this Monday, to the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP)”he adds.
A gesture welcomed by the APHP. “The APHP thanks LVMH for its offer to manufacture and distribute hydroalcoholic gels in large quantities free of charge”, replied the Parisian public health establishment on its Twitter account. This production commitment has no end date and would last “the time needed in conjunction with health authorities”, specifies the luxury group in its press release. If there was no stock shortage at the APHP, there were many “supply tensions on hydroalcoholic gels”said a spokesperson.
I’@APHP thanks @LVMH of its proposal to manufacture and distribute hydroalcoholic gels in large quantities free of charge.
They will be delivered free of charge from Monday to the AP-HP in particular. LVMH’s commitment maintained for the necessary time in conjunction with health authorities— AP-HP (@APHP) March 15, 2020
A few days ago, in Italy, the Benetton group announced a donation of 3 million euros to support the projects and urgent needs of four major Italian hospitals. In the fashion world, the Armani group also supported care establishments with a check for 1.25 million euros. Microsoft and Amazon have both donated $1 million each to a coronavirus fund in Seattle, and Facebook has decided to make researchers and diagnostic tools available to health authorities.
