The new Citroën C5 X offers a first special series, a few months after the start of its marketing in China. Her name ? Year of the Tiger! A way for the rafter builder to participate in Chinese New Year celebrations scheduled for February 3. Remember that the C5X was first marketed in the Middle Kingdom, where it is manufactured, before France. She won’t arrive with us until next March.
Just 1,000 copies
This special livery of the new flagship of the French brand, locally called Dongfeng Versailles C5 X, is limited to only 1,000 copies. She makes several winks at the star animal in a rather discreet way. Outside, the grand tourer, halfway between a sedan and an SUV, stands out with its colored inserts on the 19-inch rims. A personalization detail already seen on the model during its presentation at the Chengdu show. Unlike the latter which adopted a yellow color, the special series is adorned with red. Golden badges representing the feline’s head are positioned on the rear pillars of this “Year of The Tiger” version. Finally, in the passenger compartment, the headrests are adorned with red cushions on which is also embroidered a golden tiger’s head.
The C5X arrives in France in March
Since its launch in September 2021, the Dongfeng Citroën Versailles C5 X won the hearts of 12,000 Chinese customers. Thanks to this road, sales – hitherto at half mast in China – take off. In November 2021, a third of the sales of the Dongfeng-Stellantis joint venture were made by the road. In January, 5,000 units are about to be delivered. This special edition should further strengthen the enthusiasm for the model. Within the Middle Empire, the road car is only available with a 173 hp 1.6 turbo unit, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In France, for the time being, no special series has been announced. The sedan should join the concessions in March where it is displayed from €32,900.
