Yogurt is usually eaten at home, for breakfast or dessert. Wouter and Esther Staal thought that was a shame and came up with Yoghurt Barn: a restaurant where you can enjoy this dairy all day long. You can now go to several branches for yogurt to which all kinds of extras have been added, but also for a high tea, smoothie, oatmeal or brunch. Because you can do so much more with this healthy ingredient, they expanded their yogurt empire with a cookbook: Yogurt.
Biscuits, cake, bread: all with yogurt
Yoghurt is a handy, small, but beautifully finished book with a hard cover, Instagram-worthy photos and a fresh design. It contains recipes for – of course – breakfast and desserts, but also for lunches and snacks. True classics, such as curd (drained, thick yogurt). And trendy snacks such as granola and overnight oats.
In addition to yogurt with all kinds of surprising fruit and grain combinations, you will also find recipes in the book that you really did not come up with yourself. Biscuits, cake and banana bread for example.
Most dishes look very healthy, some are better saved for ‘occasionally’. You usually don’t need many ingredients, and although the preparation time is not mentioned, it is clear that you do not have to spend hours in the kitchen.
Try it already
You can already try these three recipes. Lol, as they say at the Yogurt Barn!
- Frozen yogurt bite
- Cherries with homemade granola
- Banana yogurt cheesecake
Wouter and Esther came home at the end of 2011 with a holiday idea. If frozen yogurt works so well in Spain and we Dutch eat the most dairy in the world. Why hasn’t anyone brought yogurt out of the house before? This is how their Yoghurt Barn restaurant was born. Their cookbook Yoghurt has been published by Unieboek | The Spectrum and available for 15 euros.
