With its new campaign, the EFS hopes to convince summer visitors to donate blood. During the summer, 10,000 donations are needed every day.
Even during this holiday period, blood donation should not stop. This is essentially the message that the EFS (the French Blood Establishment) wishes to convey. This new summer campaign entitled On vacation too, I donate my blood, echoes a large drop in donations since the start of the year, and a growing need for blood products in French hospitals. To save lives, it is estimated that 10,000 donations would be needed daily.
This campaign will operate as follows: a media plan is planned from July 15 to August 4, three weeks during which 1,200 radio spots will be broadcast on different frequencies (RCI, NRJ, etc.).
This spot features vacationers who seem to arrive at their hotel; on the beach, they see a marquee and the man asks his wife about it. She replies that it is a blood drive. Of course, the message is that donations can be made at any time. Moreover, the EFS offers on its site a interactive map making it possible to locate the collection point closest to his home, or to his vacation spot.
The EFS recalls that a donation lasts 45 minutes, but that the collection itself only lasts 10 minutes. It is estimated that each year, one million patients are treated thanks to the generosity of donors.
