Marisol Touraine invites the French to give their opinion on the anonymous use of their health data, and on the conditions under which they could be used.
In the age of big data, the government is getting up to speed. While a report from the Court of Auditors this week points to the locking of health data, the Minister of Health announced the establishment of a public consultation on the site keep it simple, The goal: “to facilitate the use and sharing of health data, while respecting privacy, for any actor carrying out a project of public interest.” “
“What uses do you want to see emerge for patients, healthcare professionals, industries, insurers or public authorities? Under what conditions would you agree to have your health data used for these purposes? It is in these terms that the Ministry of Health calls on citizens to share their opinion.
Patients, doctors, insurers
It highlights the usefulness of interpreting this data to help users take charge of their health, through “health coaching applications, self-measurement, and comparison with similar groups”, or d interpretation of symptoms.
The provision of medical data for health experts could also facilitate medical diagnosis, and allow “personalization of treatments using comparison with the response of an equivalent population”. The data is also of great interest to insurers, for whom the assessment of the health risks of their users would be facilitated.
A huge database
As part of the health law, Marisol Touraine had promised to promote their access. It provides for the creation of a “national health data system” (SNDS). This database would bring together the national health insurance inter-regime information system (Sniiram) and the program for the medicalization of hospital information systems (PMSI). Together, they represent 1.2 billion treatment sheets, 500 million medical acts and 11 million hospitalizations per year.
The consultation is open until June 20, and conclusions will be delivered in the second half of this year. At this time, only one proposal has been made by an Internet user: “allow doctors to be rated”
